Please join Wharton MENA in hosting political science professor Robert Vitalis in a conversation on oil and energy in the Middle East.

Robert Vitalis received his Ph.D. in political science from MIT. His first book, When Capitalists Collide: Business Conflict and the End of Empire in Egypt, was published in 1995. The Organization of American Historians awarded him the Bernath Prize in 1996. His book, America’s Kingdom: Mythmaking on the Saudi Oil Frontier, was named a book of the year in the London Guardian. His discussion will debunk misperceptions about oil and address the complex economics of energy. He is a Penn Professor of American Foreign Policy, Politics of the Contemporary Middle East, Comparative Politics and Race, Development and American International Relations.
